The Gainesville Sun: Big Retail Openings in the Next MonthApril 10, 2018
A new Regal theater, Tommy Hilfiger and Nike stores, and Whole Foods all open in the next 30 days.
Gainesville’s newest development projects, Celebration Pointe and Butler Town Center, will open their doors in the next 30 days to the following tenants:
Regal Celebration Pointe 10, April 12
Movie lovers can soon sit in recliner chairs and eat popcorn in Gainesville’s newest Regal theater.
Regal Celebration Pointe 10 and RPX theater, 4901 SW 31st Place, will have its official grand opening April 12.
On its opening day, the high-end movie theater will feature movies “Overboard” and “Truth or Dare,” among many others.
The Regal Entertainment Group’s 51,588-square-foot theater will feature 10 screens with RPX technology (something akin to an IMAX screen) and will include luxury-theater offerings like king-size recliners with padded footrests and a lobby complete with a full bar and lounge.
The theater will sell alcoholic drinks and high-end food options — more than just your regular popcorn and candy, Sean McIntosh, senior vice president of asset managment for Celebration Pointe, said in March.
Leading up to the opening was three days of charitable events including $3 movies, popcorn and soft drinks. Proceeds went to benefit the March of Dimes, Ronald McDonald House and Child Advocacy Center.
Regal Cinemas spokeswoman Sandra Heinig said ticket prices cost $9.09 for children and seniors; $10.49 for students, military and the adult matinee; and $11.69 for adults in the evening.
The Regal will serve as one of the entertainment options in the massive, mixed-use retail development’s pedestrian-only City Walk and Promenade.
Tommy Hilfiger, April 19
A longstanding brand in American fashion, known for its iconic red, white and blue rectangular logo, will open a store right off Interstate 75 in Gainesville on April 19.
The store will open at 10 a.m.
Representatives of Celebration Pointe, one of Gainesville’s newest major retail developments, announced in February that the Tommy Hilfiger store, 4871 Celebration Pointe Ave, Suite 30, would be an anchor tenant.
Ralph Conti, a Celebration Pointe development partner, said in a news release that Tommy Hilfiger is a global brand, making it a perfect fit for Celebration Pointe.
Tommy Hilfiger joins many high-profile tenants that have chosen to locate at Celebration Pointe.
Nike, April 19
The world’s leading sports and fitness brand has also made its way to Gainesville.
It will open April 19 at 10 a.m. alongside the Tommy Hilfiger store.
Representatives of Celebration Pointe announced in January that Nike Factory Store, 4949 Celebration Pointe Ave, Suite 10, would be an anchor tenant there.
Ralph Conti, a Celebration Pointe development partner, said in a news release that Nike’s addition to the development will not only add to retail offerings but will enrich the overall Celebration Pointe patron experience.
Several attempts via email and phone to reach Nike Media Relations for comment were unsuccessful, but typically, Nike Factory Store sells Nike shoes and apparel.
Whole Foods, May 9
Whole Foods Market’s Gainesville store will open Wednesday, May 9, company officials announced in a news release Monday morning.
The doors will open at 9 a.m. to the new store in under-construction Butler Town Center, 3490 SW Archer Road. It will have about 140 full- and part-time employees and will be open every day from 8 a.m. until 10 p.m.
The 40,000-square-foot store will offer its selection of groceries, plus create-your-own acai bowls; house-made sushi, pizza and sandwiches; a self-service counter with hot and iced coffee, tea and espresso, cold-pressed juices and natural sodas on tap; and Amazon Lockers for package pickups and returns.
The store also will feature Whole Foods’ patio area, which will have plenty of outdoor seating and a mosaic tile fountain built by a Micanopy-based artist. An indoor seating area also will be available.
At the grand opening, the first 500 customers in line will receive a mystery gift card worth $5 to $500, according to the Shop at Butler Facebook page.
