TORG EUROPEBarbara Horatz belongs to the generation that estabished the outlet industry in Europe in the early 2000s. Following an initial career in cosmetics and apparel in Paris, Barbara moved to London in 2000 to enter the burgeoning outlet business in Europe. Over the past 25 years she has worked with pioneers in the industry, such as McArthurGlen and Value Retail, as well as early adopters like Outlet Centres International (OCI) and BVS Outlet Villages.
Barbara played a key role in the development and management of some of Europe’s leading outlet villages in their early years. These included McArthurGlen in Roermond (the Netherlands), Parndorf (Austria), Berlin (Germany) as well as Troyes and Roubaix (France).
She was also among the initial senior staff at Value Retail’s outlet villages in Ingolstadt and Wertheim (Germany), Zweibrücken (Germany) and Landquart (Switzerland), paving the way to a successful future.
Barbara became a founding member of TORG in Europe in 2015 advising and supporting the development of new-generation type outlet schemes such as The Village Lyon (France), Tubize Outlet Mall (Belgium) or Tbilisi Outlet Village (Georgia). From the outset , the goal was to adapt best global outlet practices to local market conditions. As part of TORG’s global outlook, Barbara has also contributed to numerous assessements of outlet opportunites in overseas markets including the Middle East, India, Malaysia and Latin America.
Born in Germany, Barbara has been on an international trajectory all her personal, academic and professional life. She is fluent in English and French, with some Spanish.
Barbara has been a frequent speaker and participant at industry conferences such as Mapic or ICSC.
